FCC Awards $5000 to Farmington Live Art Walk
FCC Awards Farmington Live Art Walk $5,000 Grant to Expand Community Arts Event
The Live Art Walk has been awarded a $5,000 community grant from the Farmington Community Chest, supporting the continued growth of the town’s newest cultural event and helping transform a successful inaugural celebration into an annual Farmington tradition.
Launched in May 2025, the Live Art Walk celebrated Farmington’s newly designated Cultural District by turning Main Street into a one-mile open-air gallery. Dozens of artists were paired with residents, using front yards and sidewalks as creative spaces where visitors could watch art unfold in real time. The event attracted attendees from across Connecticut, generated statewide media coverage, and delivered a measurable boost to local businesses.
For the second Live Art Walk, taking place on May 9, 2026, the Farmington Community Chest grant will help expand the event’s reach and impact by supporting critical event equipment, safety measures, and, most importantly, community outreach and promotion. This support will allow the Live Art Walk to welcome more artists, residents, and visitors than ever before.
“This grant is a huge vote of confidence, not just in the Live Art Walk, but in the power of in-person, community-driven experiences,” said Chelsea O’Donnell, Live Art Walk Chairperson and Event Organizer. “The Farmington Community Chest understands that arts and culture aren’t extras; they’re essential to building connection, pride, and a thriving town.”
“The Farmington Community Chest is proud to support the Live Art Walk because it reflects exactly what community investment should do, bring people together, strengthen local identity, and create meaningful experiences that benefit residents, artists, and businesses alike,” said
Chris Andrews, President of the Farmington Community Chest. “This event showcases the creative energy of Farmington while reinforcing the importance of connection, culture, and community pride.”
The Farmington Community Chest supports programs and initiatives that enhance the quality of life in Farmington by fostering connection, addressing local needs, and strengthening the community as a whole. By investing in events like the Live Art Walk, the Community Chest continues its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote civic engagement, cultural vitality, and long-term community well-being.
With expanded funding, organizers anticipate featuring 50 artists along the one-mile route, with Miss Porter’s School, First Church of Christ Congregational, the Farmington Historical Society, and Barney Library joining residents in hosting creators. The event will also support local restaurants and shops by generating significant foot traffic throughout the day.
“The Live Art Walk is exactly the kind of event that strengthens our local economy while enhancing the experience of living and working in Farmington,” said Rose Ponte, Head of Economic Development for the Town of Farmington. “It draws visitors into one of our cultural districts, supports small businesses, and highlights the unique characteristics that make Farmington a destination.”
The May 2026 Live Art Walk is now accepting artist applications, with sponsorship opportunities available for businesses and organizations interested in supporting the event.
