Farmington Community Chest Receives $10,000 Grant from Farmington Bank Community Foundation
Helping residents remain safely and comfortably in their homes

The Farmington Community Chest is proud to announce that it has received a $10,000 grant from the Farmington Bank Community Foundation to support Community Chest Cares, a program that helps Farmington residents facing critical challenges related to food security, housing and shelter, and mental health.
As a volunteer-run nonprofit organization founded in 1931, the Farmington Community Chest works to improve the health, education, and quality of life of residents throughout Farmington and Unionville. Through Community Chest Cares, the organization partners closely with the Town of Farmington Social Services Department to assist residents whose needs may not be met through traditional funding sources.
The grant will specifically support efforts to help residents remain safely and comfortably in their homes. Working alongside the Town of Farmington Social Services team, Community Chest Cares provides assistance for projects that can have a life-changing impact on seniors and individuals with disabilities.
Examples of support may include repairing unsafe walkways, widening doorways to accommodate wheelchair access, asbestos remediation, installing chair lifts, and other housing-related improvements that allow residents to maintain their independence and continue living safely in their homes.
“This grant represents the very best of what makes Farmington such a special community,” said Chris Andrews, President of the Farmington Community Chest. “It’s Farmington organizations working with Farmington organizations to support Farmington residents. We are incredibly grateful to the Farmington Bank Community Foundation for investing in programs that directly improve the lives of our neighbors. Every dollar from this grant will stay right here in Farmington, helping residents overcome challenges and remain connected to the community they call home.”
Because the Farmington Community Chest is operated entirely by volunteers, funding can be directed where it is needed most. Community Chest Cares serves as a flexible resource for local residents facing unexpected hardships, helping address urgent needs while preserving dignity, safety, and quality of life.
The Farmington Bank Community Foundation has a long history of supporting nonprofit organizations that strengthen local communities. Through grants such as this one, the Foundation helps ensure that residents have access to essential resources and services that improve overall well-being.
“Many of the individuals we assist simply need a helping hand to remain safely in their homes,” Andrews added. “Whether it’s making a home accessible for someone with mobility challenges, addressing a health or safety concern, or helping connect residents with critical support services, this grant allows us to respond to real needs in our community with compassion and practical solutions.”
The Farmington Community Chest extends its sincere appreciation to the Farmington Bank Community Foundation for its generosity and commitment to improving the lives of local residents. Together, these organizations are helping ensure that Farmington remains a caring, connected community where neighbors support neighbors.
