Farmington Community Chest Summer Treasure Hunt Draws Local Families For Weekly Adventure

Free town-wide adventure continues through August 24

More than 200 families have joined the Farmington Community Chest Summer Treasure Hunt during its first three weeks, turning the free community adventure into a memorable weekly tradition for children and parents across Farmington.

Each week, a treasure chest filled with prizes is hidden at a different location in town. Families receive clues by signing up at the Summer Treasure Hunt webpage, with additional clues shared on the Farmington Community Chest’s Instagram and Facebook accounts at @farmingtoncommunitychest.

So far, young treasure hunters and their families have explored the Farmington Land Trust, Westwoods Recreation Complex, and the Farm Truck at Hein Farm. Three secret locations remain, with new clues continuing to be released as the hunt runs through August 24.

“We have been delighted, and honestly a little surprised, by how many families have gotten involved,” said Chris Andrews, President of the Farmington Community Chest. “It has been wonderful to see the photos and videos of children and their families solving clues, dressing up like pirates, and making the weekly treasure hunt an experience they look forward to together. These are exactly the kinds of joyful community memories we hoped this program would create.”

The average treasure hunter is six years old, but the adventure has become a family affair as parents, caregivers, siblings, and friends work together to solve the clues and discover a new part of Farmington each week.

The Summer Treasure Hunt was created to encourage family fun, outdoor activity, and community exploration while introducing residents to local nonprofits, parks, businesses, and community spaces. Weekly prizes await families who find the hidden chest, and participants also earn entries into an end-of-summer grand prize giveaway.

Participation is completely free and open to all area families. Residents can sign up to receive clues and learn more at https://www.farmcommchest.org/Summer-Treasure-Hunt. Updates and clues are also available on Instagram and Facebook at @farmingtoncommunitychest.
